Whether you are planning a solo adventure or an urban escape with your friends or family, these are some excellent day trips you can go on without driving too far.

Cincinnati, OH

Without a doubt, the city of Cincinnati is the number one day trip destination for Groesbeck locals wanting to experience some of the bustling city life that the third-largest city in Ohio has to offer. Some of the most popular sights in the city include the Cincinnati City Hall, the Roebling Suspension Bridge, and the Cincinnati Union Terminal. Once you are done exploring these places, head to the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood and grab a coffee at one of its beautiful cafés.

Getting to downtown Cincinnati from Groesbeck takes a little under 20 minutes by car, following route I-75 N. Once you find a parking spot in the city center, you can get to most of its tourist spots on foot. If you feel like checking out some other places, cross the Ohio River through one of the many bridges in the southern part of the city, and head to the cities of Covington and Newport in neighboring Kentucky.

Mounds State Recreation Area, IN

Located just a few miles north of the small town of Brookville, the Mounds State Recreation Area is a popular weekend destination for visitors from Cincinnati, Dayton, Richmond, and even Indianapolis. From downtown Groesbeck, getting here takes a little under 50 minutes by car, following routes US-52 E and U-74. If you are looking for a place to breathe some fresh air and be surrounded by nature, the Mounds State Recreation Area is an excellent destination.

Some of the most popular activities for visitors at this recreation area include camping, hiking, biking, and picnicking. The green park is located right along the shores of Brookville Lake, with many of its hiking trails going through scenic spots that offer views of the pristine water and the surrounding areas. The Mounds State Recreation Area requires visitors to pay a daily entry fee of $7 for in-state residents and $9 for out-of-state visitors.

Indianapolis, IN

The capital and most populous city in the state of Indiana is an excellent day trip destination for anyone wanting to experience the life of a multicultural city full of museums, historical sites, good restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. Getting to Indianapolis from downtown Groesbeck takes around an hour and a half, making it easy to visit the city as part of a day trip.
